When my best friend Laura gave birth to her first son P, I showed up at the hospital with a 6 pack of PBR and couldn’t wait to meet her tiny new bundle. As we approached the room, p’s dad stormed out of her room horrified telling us they couldn’t get her bleeding to stop. We sat in the waiting room for nearly an hour. All our excitement quickly turned to the fear that we could lose her.
Fast forward to last month when she was in labor with her second son T, I was physically shaking almost all day. Laura is one of the few friends I have that I feel like I truly know. I might not know her current favorite song or her Starbucks drink( actually I do, and it’s ridiculous) . But I know at the core of her being she is a solid person. Who refuses to smile “just because”. she doesn’t have it in her to be fake like that. If she gives you her friendship or even just the time of day, feel lucky! Cause I can promise you it’s not for any personal gain.
I wanted so badly to be there for her again through her pregnancy, and birth and adjusting to life with a new baby and when she was sick and had to be in the hospital. So the moment we could afford to, we headed down to see her and her family! Who just happen to live in beautiful sunny SoCal! Haiiiiii! I woulda come see her even if she lived in middle of nowhere Kansas or something, but the fact that she lives near beautiful beaches and world famous tiki bars is just a perk!
